Smart Routes to School is a program designed to reduce personal auto school trips along the 50 Corridor, improve safety of students traveling to and from school (especially those traveling by non-motorized means), and build physical activity and independence into the daily routines of students. The program is managed by the 50 Corridor Transportation Management Association and directed by a volunteer Oversight Committee. The program is funded by the following sponsors: Kaiser Permanente, AKT Development, the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, and the El Dorado County Air Quality Management District.
