Student Enrollment

On your first visit to this site, you must enroll online in order to access the majority of the features. This allows each student to have a personal, private account to which they can save their preferences, high scores, and trip logs. To enroll, click on "Log In" or "Smart Kids Click Here," then click the "I'm a New User" button. You will be asked to pledge to follow each of the rules for using this site. Next, fill out the registration form and click Submit. An email confirmation will be sent to you. For more information on our site's privacy policy, click here.

After enrollment, you will automatically be logged in to your new account. On subsequent visits, you will need to log in using your email address and the password you selected during enrollment. To log in, click on "Smart Kids Click Here" form the Home Page. Enter your email address and password, and click Log In. If you are having problems logging in, please click here.

My Home Page

After log in, you will be redirected to My Home Page. This page displays statistics based on your trip logs and activity scores. It also contains links to the other personalized pages of the site. You can also access your enrollment information if you need to make changes by clicking the "Edit My Profile" button.

Click the fortune cookie to read a motivational Thought for the Day. If you like the Thought, you can save it to your home page for safe keeping. From there, you can print out bookmarks with the saying on them. The bookmarks require you to have the free Adobe Reader software. You probably already have this software installed on your computer. Click here if you wish to download the latest version now.

Log My Trips

This page serves as your personal commute log. Each day you can fill in how you got to and from school. If you rode your bike or walked for fun or exercise, you can enter those miles, too. Finally, you can record a "thought for the day" in your journal. Click "Save" to save your information. You can edit it later if you wish.

You can access different days of the week by clicking on the green tabs of the notebook. You can only access days of the current week. Every Monday, the log switches over to the next week. You won't be able to edit your log for days older than that.

The "View My Trips" and "View My Journal" shows you everything you have ever entered in your log to date.

Activities

The Activities page features three fun learning games you can play as often as you like. Your last and high scores will always be recorded, and you can compete with yourself or other students on the site.

Concentration - Match up the tiles in as few moves as possible.

Word Search
- Find the hidden words before time runs out. Words can run diagonal, up, down, across, or backwards.

The Lunchalyzer
- The goal of this activity is to pack a nutritious lunch. You will experiment by selecting items and blending them together so the mixture can be analyzed. Drag your food items into the blender, and click the Blend button. The scientist will analyze your mixture using his laser device, and give you results and recommendations.

The Activities require the free Flash plug-in from Macromedia. You probably already have this plug-in installed in your browser. You may need to upgrade if you are using a version older than version 8. Download and installation is quick and easy: Click here to upgrade now.

Quiz

The "Smart Routes Academy" Quiz tests your knowledge of road safety, air pollution, and other transportation and health related topics. Click "Start Academy" to read and answer the first question. If you answer correctly, you will go on to the next question. If you answer incorrectly, you must try again. Keep answering questions until you graduate each grade, from kindergarten up to sixth grade. There are 12 questions in each grade. You can leave and return at any time to pick up where you left off.

Rideshare Board

The SRTS Rideshare Board helps you connect with parents of other students at your school. The Board will help you arrange carpool, walking, or biking groups. You can post your own listing or browse other's listings to find a match.

To post a listing, click the "Add My Listing" button, and fill out the form. Your listing will be published only to other parents at your school. You can edit or remove your listing at any time.

To contact someone about their listing, click the email link at the bottom of their listing. A new window will pop up in which you can type your message (you may need to disable popup blockers for this site). Your message will be emailed to the parent, at which point your email address will be revealed to that person. You will not see the other parent's email unless they reply to you. Initial communication sent through the Web site form are monitored for abuse; any subsequent emails between parents are not.
